First Grade On Fleek 2/24/2018

First grade was on fleek this week with letter writing, fact families and gifted training!

This week we started learning how to write a friendly letter.  I love using stories and great literature to help my students learn about letter writing.  There are so many great books out there to use! One of my favorites is Dear Mr. Blueberry .  We wrote letters and made an adorable whale craft.  You can learn all about this lesson here.

We also wrote letters to the Tooth Fairy!  Oh my gosh these turned out sooo cute! My firsties loved thinking of questions to ask the tooth Fairy! Take a look here to see the entire lesson

We've been learning all about fact families in math.  I love teaching this concept because it really comes easy for the kids and it's fun.  It's nice to take a little break from some of the more difficult stuff we've been learning in math (like adding to subtract......what???) I made a simple fact family house and laminated them so the kids could use them as work mats.  We practiced lots of combinations for fact families. If you'd like a copy, you can grab it free here

Finally, I spent my Friday in professional development for gifted training.  We are now required to service all students from grades 1-12 that have been identified as gifted and so our entire staff is receiving this training.  This was my view all day.......

Which leads me to my Friday funny......cause girl, you know you've been there!
